St Benoit Yogurt Cheese (Pint)

  • $7.50
  • In stock: N/A
The cost of St Benoit yogurt cheese is $6 a pint with a $1.50 jar deposit, totaling $7.50.

Saint Benoît Yogurt Cheese is a natural product from Sonoma county, California.  Their organic yogurts are handcrafted in small batches. Their unique, smooth, creamy flavor begins with the wholesome Jersey milk they use.

In keeping with their artisan and terroir roots, their new yogurt cheese is a simple and delicious creamy dairy product full of all the healthy live cultures found in their yogurts sold in their same ceramic crocks. It can be eaten cold straight out of the crock, as a spread or dip, used in baking or sauces, and is a healthy alternative to cream cheese or crème fraîche.

Of course they remain true to their goals by using the same pasture-fed organic jersey cows’ milk and live active cultures found in their yogurt, and then add just a hint of sea salt at the end--Just three wholesome ingredients; organic pasture-fed jersey cows’ milk, live active culture and sea salt.  Because there is no added cooking time the probiotics remain live.  It has a very low lactose content and few carbohydrates.

Yogurt cheese is wonderful alone on raw vegetables and pita chips, spread on a sandwich or bagel, spooned on pasta or salad in place of goat cheese, and can even be baked in a cheesecake or soufflé.

Saint Benoît (French for Saint Benedict) founded several monastic communities across Europe. Through centuries - their commitment to a region and its people, their knowledge of the local environment and their concern for the land they farmed - these communities have crafted some of the best artisan food products (cheeses, wines, preserves, etc.) in the world.

The founders of Saint Benoît Yogurt, Benoît and David de Korsak, grew up in France and brought with them to California the concept of terroir, or food of a place, which reflects the character of the land from which it came.

Claravale orders must be placed by 8pm on Saturday, for delivery the following Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday.

You can either return Claravale bottles to stores that sell Claravale or return them to your drop location for a refund. In order to receive a refund from Real Food (Bay Area) please adhere to ALL the following steps:
- Wash out all bottles and lids thoroughly, making sure there is NO milk or cream left inside. (Note: we don’t want to attract bugs or animals to our host locations).
- Place the lid on each bottle and write your name clearly on it. This will be the only way that we can match your refund up to your bottles.
- Make sure bottles are not chipped, as we will not give refunds for bottles that cannot be reused.
- Only return bottles in multiples of six. This is to make my driver’s job in tallying the bottles as quick as possible. If you have fewer than six bottles please wait until you have accumulated six and then return them. If you have more than a multiple of six, please only return the full multiple of 6 (6,12,18, etc.), and return the rest when you have accumulated more.
- Place bottles into empty milk crates at your drop location.
- Sign in the number of bottles you have returned on the sign in sheet on the back of the sign out sheet.
- Bottle deposit returns will be credited to your account once a month during the first week of each month. If you have a standing order, the amount will be credited towards your next order. If you do not have a standing order, I will send you a code to enter into your next order for you to receive credit.
- You will be refunded $1.25 for each Claravale bottle returned. The 25c difference from the price of the deposit you paid is to cover the additional delivery/pickup and administrative costs associated with returning the bottles. This way the price of Claravale milk and cream ($4 and $9 respectively) will not need to be raised for everyone, but those of you who want to use our service to return bottles will be paying to cover the associated costs.
